GES Introduces Online and Off-Campus Learning for SHS Transition Schools in 2025/2026 Academic Year, The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced special learning arrangements for selected Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools for the 2025/2026 academic year. These measures are designed to support students in transition schools operating under the double-track system, particularly Forms One and Two learners.
Under the new arrangement, affected students will combine physical classroom learning with online and off-campus instruction during specific periods of the academic calendar. According to GES, this approach is intended to maintain academic continuity and prevent loss of teaching time when students are not on campus.
In a statement dated January 2, the Service explained that the off-campus learning periods are a formal part of the school year and must be treated as compulsory instructional time, not holidays or breaks.
Support Measures for Online and Off-Campus Learning
To ensure effective teaching and learning during off-campus periods, GES has rolled out several support systems. These include structured projects and assignments aligned with approved textbooks and the national curriculum. All learning materials are freely accessible on the official platform, curriculumresources.edu.gh.
Additionally, daily educational lessons will be aired on the Ministry of Education Television channel on Multi TV. Schools that already operate Learning Management Systems (LMS) have been encouraged to fully activate and use them, with backing from school management.
GES has also called on school heads, teachers, parents, and guardians to actively supervise students and ensure their full participation in all assigned online and off-campus learning activities.

Key Takeaway for Parents and Students
GES has emphasized that all online and off-campus learning periods are mandatory and count toward instructional hours. Students are expected to participate fully, just as they would during regular classroom sessions.
This blended learning strategy reflects GES’s commitment to maintaining quality education while managing increasing student enrollment across Ghana’s SHS system.
