In a video posted on his Facebook wall, Grandpapa clarified that his words were never meant to disrespect her or cause a rift between their daughter, Shamima, and her mother.

Grandpapa explained that his emotions got the best of him as he reflected on his own childhood—being raised by his father without his mother. He acknowledged that experiencing a similar situation while raising Shamima influenced his thoughts, leading him to express himself in a way that Amina may have misinterpreted. However, he strongly reassured everyone that he has never, and will never, teach Shamima to resent her mother.
